Wardrobe Refashion

Ok, I made this pledge that was to start July 1st and oops it is already July 12th. Where does time go. With three kids 5 and under the days just fly, so I have not made anything yet, but I have measured my niece to refashion a skirt for her and cut a skirt for my daughter so I have started. Here is the pledge:

I, Shara, pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing for the period of 4 months. I pledge that I shall refashion, renovate, recycle preloved items for myself with my own hands with fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract. I pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovated, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog so that others may share the joy that thriftiness brings. Signed, Shara B.

OK, blogger would not let me cut and paste that pledge so that took forever to type but I am suppose to post it and the button (which I have figured out how to do). So when I signed up I did not take a whole lot of notice of the words "for myself", so I hope no one minds that most items will be for children. I do have some things I want to do for myself and they are planned out but I have to be better sewer first. (along with the fact that I need to unbury the machine from pile of mending on top of it!)

All in all this refashion thing is right up my alley since I already did it anyway and I LOVE thrift shopping. So I will post the beginnings of my projects tomorrow.

Now I really need to learn how to read crocheting instructions

I would rather have someone show me how to do something then me have to try to learn it myself by reading. I know I can do it, but it is going to take longer. I know how to do basic crocheting because my grandmother showed me, but I do not know how to do rounds (which I have heard are easy), nor do I know how to read patterns. I have a simple book to teach me all this, but alas, I still have not taught myself these things. Unfortunately my grandmother died a year ago before I started crocheting again and she is not here to answer my questions. So I guess I need to get the simple instruction book back out again because my mom has been wanting some more of these for a long time and I just found a tutorial quite by accident when cruising http://thirtyhandmadedays.blogspot.com/ for kitchen ideas for Lindi.
